BCIS

The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies, Commonly known as the BCIS, is the academic-wing of the S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike National Memorial Foundation, a statutory institute established under Act of Parliament No. 2 of 1975.

The BCIS is a non-profit, tertiary level education institute specializing in all aspects of international relations including training, research and advanced studies.

Objectives of the Centre

to promote an understanding and belief among the people of Sri Lanka in the development of friendly relations amongst nations in the furtherance of international cooperation, in the maintenance of peace and security and in solving international problems through peaceful means.

to encourage and promote the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge on International Relations, International Law, Diplomacy and the like, among the people of Sri Lanka

to encourage and promote the study of and research into all aspects of International Peace, International Relations, Law and Diplomacy.

to establish and promote cooperation and friendly relations with institutions, associations or organizations, both national and international, with similar aims and objectives.

 

Mandate of the Centre

In pursuance of these aims and objectives, the BCIS conducts regular Certificate, Diploma and Higher Diploma/Post-Graduate Diploma courses and other short-term courses in international relations, as well as Guest Lecture Programmes, Round Table Discussions, Seminars, workshops, etc.
