The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) is a tertiary level educational institute specialising in all aspects of international relations including training, research and advanced studies. The BCIS is the academic-wing of the S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike National Memorial Foundation established under the Act of Parliament No. 02 of 1975.
Applications are hereby invited for the following posts at the BCIS..

1. ACADEMIC COORDINATOR – CONFLICT RESOLUTION & PEACE SUPPORT DIVISION

Prerequisites:
-Degree from a recognized university with a Class and post-graduate qualifications in Conflict Resolution and/or Peace Studies;
- Minimum of two (02) years working or teaching experience in Conflict Resolution/Peace Building;

2. ACADEMIC COORDINATOR –International Relations Division

Prerequisites:

- B.A. in International Relations or Political Science with a Class or any Degree with M.A. in International Relations
- minimum of 02 years teaching and/or research experience at tertiary levelBuilding;

3. ACADEMIC COORDINATOR –Language Training Division

Prerequisites:

- B.A. in English with a Class and preferably with TESL qualifications

- minimum of 02 years teaching and/or administrative experience at tertiary level

4. Librarian

5. Assistant Editor cum Information Officer

6. Financial Controller

Prerequisites:

- Membership of CIMA, ICA, ACCA, CMA or past finalist with two years post qualified experiance or intermediate with 5 years experiance at an organization of repute.

- Reporting directly to the Director BCIS.

- salary negotiable and Emoluments tax free.

 

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Academic Coordinators

  • Year planning & organising all ongoing activities (of the Division concerned)
  • coordinating lecturers/facilitators/participants
  • improving the quality of ongoing activities
  • managing budgets/grants and recommend payments
  • monitoring and evaluations
  • ensuring effective communications
  • conceptualizing designs for advertisements, brochures, website and other publicity materials
  • teaching, setting-up of examination papers, conducting exams, evaluating papers/assignments
  • designing, planning and implementing new programmes in an ongoing basis
  • developing fund raising proposals
  • liaising with donors and collaborating institutes
  • developing and implementing research proposals
  • supervising and coordinating interns

 

Financial Controller
                      

  • Financial Management
  • Financial Reporting as per SLAS
  • Implement control procedures and monitor efficiency
  • Provide management Information for decision making
  • Ability to work with Quick Books accounting system
  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts for the centre and donor agencies
  • Negotiate with donor agencies in  securing funds
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical skills and independent worker
  • Ability to involve with operational activities of the centre
  • Coordinate with auditors in finalizing annual accounts
  • Ability to train staff and to increase performance
  • Ability to coordinate with all levels of the staff

 

In addition to the above mentioned minimum prerequisites

- excellent command of English;
- Computer literacy;
- excellent inter-personal and organizational skills;
- excellent writing and communication skills;
- team spirit.

will be absolute musts for all the above posts.

Higher academic qualifications would always be given priority.

Age: Preferably below 40 years

All appointments are on 05 year contract basis and renewable
