Message from the conference coordinator

Colleagues and Friends,

Well, the EUE Conference has come and gone and by all accounts it was a resounding success. Feedback from the participants was overwhelmingly positive, but also included some constructive criticism and helpful suggestions for us to consider in planning such events in future. My thanks once again to all of you who participated, especially those who took time to complete the evaluation form and share their thoughts with us.

Jim

As you can see, we’re using this website now as a post-conference resource. People who want copies of the slides and handouts from some of the sessions they missed can download them here. We’ve also posted some photos from the event for your viewing pleasure. We’d like to add to our supplies of both of these, so if you presented at the conference and still haven’t sent us your slides or handouts, please do so; likewise, if you have photos to share, we’d be glad to help you. (Click here for instructions.)

In addition, we’ll be using the site to keep you updated on efforts to follow up to the EUE Conference. You may already know that we are planning a proceedings from the conference, assuming we get enough people to submit papers and the funds to publish them. If you presented at the conference and would like to have your paper considered for the proceedings, please let us know. (Click here for instructions.)

Finally, we’d like to remind you that the 2006 SLELTA Conference is just around the corner. The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies, following on from its success as host of the EUE Conference, will also be hosting SLELTA this year in cooperation with the BMICH. We encourage you to take part and direct you to the SLELTA website where you can find more details.

On a personal note, I want to end by saying how much I enjoyed meeting so many of you during the conference, and how gratifying it was for me to contribute to your professional development. I’ve been deeply impressed with the people working in the field of university-level ELT in Sri Lanka, and I will take those good impressions and happy memories of our time together with me as I head back to the U.S. to start the next phase of my own professional development.

I wish you the best of success and hope we might meet again some day.

Yours sincerely,

Jim Ranalli
EUE Conference Coordinator
