LIBRARY AND INFORMATION CENTRE

Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies has its own specialised Library with over 12000 volumes dedicated to International Relations in addition to all important foreign and local journals/ Newspapers. The Centre is also a depository library of the United Nations.

Library Vision

To acquire all printed books, journals, pamphlets, microfiche, audio visual media and electronic media regarding international studies

Library Goals
  • To fulfill the purpose of the main organization.
  • To distribute its knowledge among the populace of the main organization.
  • To update and disseminate the new knowledge on newer trends in the field of international studies.
  • To provide the main organization with the necessary information to inaugurate its new projects.
  • To maintain a contemporary collection of books in the field of international studies.
  • To save the records time by using fast access to information service
Library Terms and Conditions

Membership Card

Please remember your membership card is needed for all Lending Materials borrowing. Item will not be issued without one.

Over Dues

It is the user’s responsibility to return items on or before the due date. Fines are charged for late return of loans.
The fines on an overdue material are as follows
1st week        Rs. 2.00/- per day
2nd week       Rs. 4.00/- per day

Loss of Books or Library Tickets

A member who losses a book will be charged its full replacement cost.
Loss of a Library tickets should be notified immediately and a duplicate card would be issued at Rs. 50.00/-

Renewals

The Loan period of materials borrowed may be extended on or before the due date for a period of one week.
Books may not be renewed if there are reservations on the item.
Renewals can be made only a person. No renewals by the phone.

Reservations

Reservations of materials can be made by completing a reservation from at the issue desk.
When the item becomes available, notification is made by phone.

It must be picked up by 3 days of notification, after 3 days the item will be place back into the circulation.

 

Lending Collection

The Centre has its own specialized Library with over 12000 volumes exclusively devoted to disciplines related to International Studies. The Library’s Lending Collection consists of materials on topics related to,

● International Politics
● International Law
● Foreign Policies
● Human Rights
● International and Regional Organizations
● Sri Lanka Collection
● Foreign Language Collection


Reference Collection

The Reference collection in the Library includes reference materials such as Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Reports, Glossaries, ect.
 Apart from this there are six special
collections in the reference section.

· Pamphlets Collection

· Public Forum Audio Collection

There are paper clipping files which are often used by readers. There is a general collection of periodicals in the fields of International Affairs.
