MISSION & OBJECTIVES OF SLYP

 

MISSION

To create and sustain a platform for young leaders in Sri Lanka to voice their concerns and take actions, aiming at positive social change on issues that affect them and their communities at the grass root, regional and national level, by way of youth empowerment and mobilization.

OBJECTIVES

 

  • Facilitating a working partnership between youth leaders and the wider community in the nation and internationally, through the exchange of information and learning.
  • Valuing the efforts of young leaders who strive to work for the betterment of their communities, while developing, implementing and evaluating individual and collective Action Plans.
  • Developing participants' skills and knowledge necessary for implementing positive and sustainable change in order to make them effective social leaders.
  • Motivating, encouraging and inspiring young leaders to continue working towards building a peaceful, equitable and sustainable nation.
  • Developing frameworks for action to be implemented at regional and national level.
  • Building strategic networks of young social leaders, development practitioners and key decision makers.
  • Providing a platform for the youth of the nation to voice their ideas, opinions and to be an active part of the decision making process of the nation.
  • Inspiring and empowering the next generation of young leaders.
  • Establishing a significant exchange of learning, information and research relating to the issues that young people face and the actions being taken to overcome them.
