Objective :

The objective of this Awards ceremony is to recognize and reward the youth activists/young community leaders of the country who have rendered commendable services & vibrant leadership in the community development sphere.

Priority Issue :

Since the future of our country is in the hands of the youth of the nation, we (BCIS) want to be an important platform to build their future.

The Awards Ceremony would serve as a catalyst for further promoting & encouraging the volunteer involvement in finding viable solutions to the issues affecting the youth and their communities at grass-root, regional and national level. At present there is no such national event specifically focusing on rewarding the young community leaders and hence this will be a flagship event that promotes youth activism in Sri Lanka.

Eligibility :

To be eligible for the BCIS-YCL Awards, the applicant should fulfill the following conditions:-
Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka
Age between 15 to 30
Fully operational for one year in a community development project before the submission of application
Eligible under at least two of the categories listed below
Members or the Former members of the Committees attached to BCIS/YED are not eligible to apply

Selection

A Panel of Judges will be selecting the most outstanding young leader from each of the action areas and according to a marking scheme for their performance in these action areas.

Awards:

Three young leaders from each action area will be awarded with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals plus a grant to further their youth activities.

The Most outstanding Young Community Leader of the Year will be given a grant/fund of Rs 1,000,000 (One Million Sri Lankan Rupees) for a community project he/she proposes with the approval of Secretariat.
